Look for the 'Play Online Demo' link on Exmortis 3 to get a (good) free taste of this much awaited post apocalyptic horror point'n'click game (nb. once again, this isn't one for the kids to play, in case you didn't guess already), but you'll need to download it and stump up some cash (19USD) for the full thing... I know, I'm sorry, but it is Exmortis, it's not that much money, paying will help with future games.... argh... who am I kidding? Enjoy the demo, and at least think about paying for the full thing, even though, like me, you'll probably just play the demo and then cross your fingers that a commercial laden on-line full version will be available at some point in the future.
Purgatorium is a seasonal, and downright spooky, point'n'click game from Ben Leffler, author of Exmortis. You might want to shuffle the kids out of the room before playing, better still wait until the dead of night to play once they have gone to bed, turn off the lights, turn up the volume, and get a spare set of underwear handy [subbed by MsInterpret, Rod & JhInG].
As you may have seen by now I've added a basic ratings system for games (check the rating link at the bottom of each game) which is based on your votes. I've tried to keep it simple with voting on each game restricted to 3 choices: you just say whether you love it, hate it, or if you're somewhere inbetween. The game's rating is then based on a weighted calculation from all the votes cast. I'm hoping this is useful and "works", it's been suggested to me quite a few times in the past, and I believe I have the mechanics of it working, however whichever way I figure it in my head the ultimate success of the feature is really down to how/if people use it. So I'd be very grateful if you'd get voting, especially where you feel particularly strongly about the brilliance, or lack thereof, of a game. Eventually (soon I hope, if enough votes are collected) I'll use the votes cast as the basis for a top 10 games feature so we can see the "ultimate Lazylaces games collection", and to this end you may like to hunt back through the archives for your favourite, older, games and get voting on them, as well as the newly posted ones. Use the search facility (in the top right of every page) to find "your game", or use the comment thread on this post to suggest games for other Lazylacers to check-out and get voting on. In the meantime I have a few suggestions of my own that spring to mind: Happy voting everyone :)
Finally the wait is over. Exmortis 2 is here. Let me say up front though, as you'll know if you've played the original Exmortis, this point'n'click game is adults only. Language, blood, gore and general spookiness all feature. So send the kids out of the room while you are playing. And while you are at it, turn down the lights, turn up the volume, and have some freshly laundered underwear close to hand. Ready? Let's go... Exmortis 2 picks up sometime after the conclusion of the original game, Exmortis. It's not essential to have played the original, but some of the story makes a little more sense if you have, and it's well worth a play anyway. As with the original, the graphics and sound of the sequel, are to die for (pun intended). And it's disturbingly easy to sink yourself into the world of Exmortis. Check the intro to the game (from the official walk-through to be posted soon):
Another teaser for an excellent game coming soon... This time I have news from Ben, creator of the superb Exmortis (play it now if you haven't already, or play it again to catch up - it first came out in 2004), apparently the sequel is 75% complete, and he hopes to have it fully complete by the end of February. I can't wait, hopefully it's as spooky as the last episode, judging by the eye candy he's sent through it certainly looks as good, if not better than the original. Here are the sceenshots I'm drooling over now:
First things first - don't even bother clicking on this game until it's dark in whatever time-zone you're in. Also I recommend waiting until you're on your own, and preferably you should crank the sound up too. Having spare underpants to hand is also advisable if you are of a nervous disposition. That's the prerequisites over and done with on with the game...
I was a bit dubious at first whether exmortis even was a point'n'click game, it seemed like a simple, if very spooky, flash toy with no real purpose, until I found the locked safe and figured there must be something more going on than I realised at first. Even now (I haven't completed the game), I'm not totally sure what the eventual goal is, but a little point'n'click experience has taught me that it's almost certainly to escape the house (express solution: don't enter the house at the begining and walk away while you can!).
So far I've reached the library (pictured) and figured out that I need to collect some symbols - I don't think I have them all. Post hints, and ask for help, in the comments to this post, but for now I'm off to bed (to have nightmares) and I'll be trying to complete this one in the morning. [hosted at newgrounds].
PS. Ultra-simple first hurdle hint: click 'play this game' on the newgrounds page to play this game!
