Great game. Thanks for your help. And for the people that are getting pissed because other people are calling their posts. Yes, they may be wasteing there time calling there post, but at least they are wasting their time in a positive manner, not being critical and negative. Your wasteing your time doing that, so the next time you have something negative to say, think.....do I want to be some what odd in a fun kind of way, or a negative ole bitty that has nothing better to do then be an ass....

MINIMAL HINTS for people who don't like spoilers and walkthroughs (let alone the excessive amount of space people take up by making you scroll down through their walkthroughs -- maybe they think that's what "walk-through" means?):

* if you have too many objects, you can't pick up more. to put an object back, click on it (so the little picture comes up) and then click on the circular arrow in the lower right-hand corner.
* to collect anything beyond the first four or five objects, you need to find a key. this can be very hard to find, even when you know where it's hidden. see below for hint/spoiler about where to find it.
* once you're looking in a new place, you need a tool to get further.
* with what you found, you can take things apart, which will give you new tools.
* and that will let you get into another new place -- but you need to be properly dressed to get there.
* you also need to know what NOT to do: once you're leaning out the window, DON'T click beyond the edge of the window: click on the blue tiles, and then at the bottom right or left corner of the screen, and when you see a window, then it's safe to click on the window.
* in the new location, you're looking for a tool. you actually find two of them, but they don't work until you do something to them.
* you find two clues. one tells you exactly what to do, once you find where to do it. the other tells you how to open the safe. see below for hints/spoilers.

and SPOILERS:

* you need to do the following things, in order: open the wardrobe, take the bed apart, open the window, get into the next apartment, take the bed apart, find the safe, figure out the combination to open the safe.
* to find the first key, you begin where the game will end.
* the dial of the safe needs to be turned four times, but the clue you have only has two numbers.
* so only use one digit at a time.
* and alternate.

and don't forget that you can collect lots of objects, but most of them aren't useful and will have to be put back later when you need to collect other objects.

I think when point and click games allow you to pick up objects that are not useful, it makes the game more challenging, i for one donot like it too much, but i think its good. Dunno why, but it took me ages to find the key in the blue door. Everytime i feel i am one step closer to mastering point and clicks, there's always one that proves me wrong...!

and Ryan! yes, it's definitely a new topic.

as for Think~Pink's (typically astute) comment about Nordinho, that's certainly where i saw it first, and promptly submitted it to Graeme so that Lazylaces could continue to hold its head up proudly as a member of the Vanguard of Point-and-Clickery. (though i wonder why Nordinho doesn't have the "first!" phenomenon. different audience, i suppose.)

what *I* love about this game is, WHY does he need to find a key to open his hotel room door FROM THE INSIDE?
(and why is the key where it is? --- maybe he and his neighbour have each others' keys?)

For some reason, the game is all blurry for me....I don't know if it's supposed to be like that or what? Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

Okay, scratch my last comment. I didn't even read the game review at the top. Sorry guys!

Don't worry Tana, when I first played the game (on Nordinho) I thought there was something wrong too. When I saw "my" reflection in the mirror (in the game), I got even more worried.

oh, and click on the ARROWS (the left-hand one is backwards -- it points down, but it actually moves that side of the dial UP, i.e. to the right).

Meme

:
please don't type in combinations without warning people that you're posting a spoiler.

turn the dial in a different direction each time, and if that doesn't work try starting with the other direction first.

if THAT doesn't work, then it sounds like you have a glitch. re-start, is all i can suggest.

bah this is pointless i've tried restarting, is the ending any good?

Comment 187, Monday, August 22nd 2005 06:59:00 PM

:
no, it's your typical "door opens, message in Portuguese that might be telling you 'congratulations!' or might be telling you 'you just wasted another hour or two or three on this pointless game.' "

after which you go back to searching the web for another fix for your point-and-click addiction.

besides, everyone complains about the endings even if they ARE good.

Comment 188, Monday, August 22nd 2005 07:05:00 PM

Tia

:
Its so much easier to criticise than to create...

I'm just happy I can get through it. I dont comment on the ending by saying it was bad, crap or whatever. Besides, not all point and click endings are bad some are actually good, some symbolic (like the ending in Travelogue). I would rather comment on the point and click game as a whole, and I would say that this particular point and click is not as good as others ones I've played on this site (taking into consideration graphics and all AND that hideous reflection in the mirror {can you tell I cant get over that}).

Im just tryna get the 'cool flame' game to work (yeah I know, its old but I love the whole shady, private eye thing, reminds me of a Raymond Chandler novel)...it wont let me sign in even after ive registered...cheek!!

Tia, no lie -- Raymond Chandler FOREVER!

and i can't help being critical too, especially of people who are critical of things that i really like (e.g. the ending to Travelogue). and yes, i would have liked this game a lot better if the graphics were better. or if the gameplay were logical enough that i could have figured it out on my own.

but there, i'm blaming the game because i'm not smart enough to figure it out -- how logical is that?
