Oh god. I hate puzzles like the one in the sword room. I'm gonna have to find a walkthrough...

Good game. The one puzzle was harder but still solvable.

Out. The second puzzle was annoyingly hard.

HINT: (click box to highlight/fade)

Don't remember the exact solution, but I started at the top row, then the bottom, and the diagonal last and everything kind of fell into place. Don't forget that it loops around back to zero after nine.

I have never seen a puzzle like the one in the sword room and still have no idea how it was to be figured out. I had to look up a solution. Other than that, the game was not very difficult at all.

Honestly... what's there not to like about this game? Shanty was kind enough to go back to the right path and not going on making shorter and shorter, easier and easier games. This one's just another classic Shanty-gem, IMHO.

For anyone who doesn't want to spend too much time figuring out the slution for the "sword" room puzzle:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
Let's first assign a letter to each pushable arrow button:
A: the one under the left hand column;
B: the one under the rifght hand column;
C: the one for the diagonal axis;
D: the one for the bottom row;
E: the one for the middle row;
F: the one for the top row.

The times you have to push the buttons:

F=7
E=6
D=2
C=3
B=5
A=1

For the "shield" room, you have to push the buttons the following numbers of times:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)

X2: 2
X3: 3
X5: 3

Since it's multiplying, it doesn't matter in what order you push them.

C'mon guys, there were no "hard" puzzles in this one.
Just to walk straight through the rooms. A big disappoinment.

Is there a strategy for the second puzzle?

Comment 10, Saturday, May 12th 2012 05:28:19 AM

Mr. Bailey

:
JonB: The strategy is very simple...

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)

You see that the 7 in the top row and the 2 in the bottom row only can be reached by the arrows on the right. So you press these until you have a 7 and a 2. Then you move to number 3 in the bottom row, then to number 7 in the middle row, and then you just keep going...Not very hard at all. Very straightforward.

Frustrating, more like. I hate those things so much, I overthink them and spend hours on them...

Straightforward? Easy? How the hell do you get past the first room?!? I get two sheets of paper that have nothing to do with the puzzle I need to complete. And that's easy? You all must be geniuses. One of those types of people with IQ's around 300.

@Gemini

Uh no, I'm no genius. The more I've played these games, the more I've seen similar puzzles show up and similar places that clues are going to be hidden. I still am not awesome at escaping though! There are plenty of games I find hard that the posters here find to be "so easy."

Anyway, the sheet of paper you get in the first (technically second) room with all the letters on it is exactly what you need to solve the puzzle in that room.

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
Read the letters. You should notice some words popping out at you. Anytime you see "right" "left" "up" or "down" write it down. That is the order you need to push the arrows on the safe on the wall.

You have two sheets for the first puzzle because...

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
The sheet with squares tells you which letters to read/ignore on the letters sheet. There is a minus blue to show you to only read every other letter (the ones that correspond with the red squares).

I think that I just got lucky on the second puzzle, other than that, very easy!

Decent.

I had no trouble with any of the puzzles and again got to play it as a see-how-quickly because it was another small set... but all this "very simple" & "so easy" bluster lately is really just nonsense.

There are easy "games" for sure; and there are even a lot of entirely inane "games" too; and those should be singled out; but "c'mon" indeed... this game is neither.
