Paint (Behind The Scenes)
So the news on the grapevine is that the new Sony Bravia Ad (remember the bouncing balls?) is out tomorrow (at 20:45GMT my sources tell me, which makes me guess the UK is getting it first, they didn't mention a channel, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say ITV1 is the spot to watch). The behind the scenes video link I got sent gives you a flavour of what might be involved, but if you check youtube you can find clips that are a bit more revealing. The only question remaining is, after it airs tomorrow, where will you be able to see it first? The offical site, or youtube?

In Washington, DC here, it's up on BRAVIA's website for me.

It's amazing, JhIng, that's why. If you haven't seen the bouncing ball ad- I'd recommend it.

I like the bouncy ball one better. The paint one is great but I think they should've used better music.

Hiya

I'm a long time *lurker* and first time commenter! :)

The ad was shot in Toryglen, Glasgow during the summer. They didn't have too much paint to clean up as the flats they used are due to be demolished soon. I can still see the paint on one or two of them from my window (about 2 miles away). Sony held a party for all of the residents and it even made the local papers!

CDX3 & Cluedo(Final Episode) doesn't have a rating system put in either and both are games :D

Geez, how much did that cost? Five? Ten million dollars? I'd rather get my new TV for a hundred or so less!

Couldn't they have presented the same effect via CGI, at 1/10th the cost?

This appears to be corporate public masturbation, stating that 'we can spend YOUR money frivolously and wastefully'.

No paint is 'environmentally friendly'! It may very well be water soluble, and wash away, but many of the 'PC ' paints substitute MERCURY for LEAD! What they mean to say is that this paint is LESS damaging that other paints.

Having just seen it I must admit I feel quite disappointed. The first one was fantastic as it was a perfect blend of music and artistic film direction. This advert felt like Sigue Sigue Sputniks second single. Too much hype and not enough value.

Yup, me too... still don't see what all the hoopla's all about... Just another adver to me.

Fantastic explosion of colour, which I suppose is the point, but for me, it didn't have the same impact as the first one.

I liked the new one, it reminded me of a musical fountain, and although the music fit very well, it just didn't gel like the bouncy ball ad.
I can still watch those bouncy balls flying down the street and get goosebumps, but that does have a lot to do with the accompanying soundtrack. Jose Gonzalez' song is just so right for that ad.

Nice looking, but I'll take the bouncy balls :o)
BTW, that clown is seriously scary *shudder*

Saw it tonight-wondered what the hell it was at first but like the spheres on the last one, very cleverly done not sure what the clown was doing!

The cleaning took 5 days and 60 people. Thankfully, the use of a special water-based paint made it easy to scrape-up once the water had evaporated.

curious
not able to view it tho. some kind of quicktime problem...

@JhInG: the cluedo and cdx thing are not the mention of the game but of new episodes, so graeme filed them under "info"
(which you can read in the small gray bit with the date:)

Nice but unnecessary. Let's just add more chemicals to the environment in order to sell a TV!!! When will the big bods learn that global warming is a serious issue?

Hm. The ad has been on TV where I live for ages. I'm just not impressed at all. If I don't have the right TV yet, I'm going to be even more unimpressed, right? So why even show it to me? Who has the desire to see couloured bouncy balls, of all things, in high definition? Yawn.

My sentiments exactly...

By the way, Graeme must be busy preparing for Jennifer's arrival on Saturday or something coz he's been totally slacking off on new posts... especially as there's new games these days...

Then again, it might be *shudders* work related :D

Grumpy, Sam & Max won't be available to anyone outside the US and Canada until November 1st. :(
Plus, even in the US and Canada you have to be a Gametap member to play. You'll have to wait I guess.
