Noob's Room
Okay you're in a room, you need to escape, somebody's already stolen the Apple Mac off the desk, but can you get out before the background music loop drives you nuts? Seriously someone post a walkthru to this point'n'click before my ears start to bleed...

no walkthrough from me, but here's a couple of ...

HINTS FOR THOSE WHO HATE WALKTHROUGHS

* to begin with, Tab doesn't work, so you have to find the rollovers (places to click) on your own
* some of the rollovers are TINY
* but none of the rollovers is anywhere that weird: the places you end up looking all make perfect sense, it's just hard to find where to click until you know where
* but if you've done The Doors or Escape the Room, this is easy. no bizarre puzzles to solve, no incompletely-translated or outright foreign elements (phones with letters, etc.), and it's pretty quick
* so just be very patient, and keep clicking. and enjoy finishing it when you're done!

later, some fool will post spoilers telling you where to click for every damn thing in the game. hell, i'll do it myself...

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

* some of the places you can look don't have anything hidden there
* some of the objects you collect you never actually use

Here is how I finished it. Hope it makes sense to you.

*first key is in trash can under desk (use on middle box on the 2 shelf)
*there are scissors behind printer on desk (use on the yellow thing hanging in closet to get another key for another box on shelf)
*on top of closet is another key for another box on shelf
*there is glue behind the tv on floor (not sure what its for tho)

note: each box (on second shelf) gives you a part of a key, this key once you have all parts, will open the box on top shelf which gives you a note telling you where the door key is

Easy one.

::: Spoiler Warning below :::

Step 1: Grab key from white trashcan under computer desk
Step 2: Grab key from top of clothes cabinet
Step 3: Grab sissors from behind printer
Step 4: Use sissors on clothes in cabinet (then take the key)
Step 5: Grab glue from behind tv (click to the left of it)
Step 6: Use keys on boxes sitting on the shelf to grab parts of 4th key
Step 7: Use 4th (glued) key on chest sitting on top shelf
Step 8: Grab room key from under purple table
Step 9: Use room key on door

i love watching the rush to be the first to post walkthroughs. HINTS -- doesn't anyone believe in hints? why assume that everyone reads this page is completely helpless? especially if the game's an "easy one"? why give it away completely?

besides, what Graeme actually wanted to know was how to turn off the sound. personally, at first i couldn't stand it -- but after fifteen minutes, it started to seem.... RIGHT somehow. peaceful. serene. like playing Shift. so i ended up leaving it on for hours....

This has to be the easiest pnc game ever... at least the easiest room to escape. Sound? Just turn the main sound off...really annoying music.

The Old One

:
Quick and simple, sometimes this is needed to pass fifteen minutes. I agree with the Meme: please don't post walkthroughs straight away, especially when no-one has asked for any help. Give everyone a fair crack at least! The best hint was "some of the rollovers are TINY" from Meme, that was enough for me to check all locations harder.

Ace, obviously you've never done Samorost or Treasure Box. though they're more about fun (and beauty) than challenge. (or escaping rooms, particularly really starkly empty rooms with techno soundtracks.)

:
Yes, it is easy, but I have been playing pinot and click games for as long as I can remember. I suppose it isn't called noobs room for nothing.

I still think though that it has some degree of difficulty, not in so much as solving puzzles, but actually trying to find everything you need. I doubt the beginner to these kind of games would find it too easy.
Overall, I think it's a nice little game. Nicely animated, with not too much difficulty and a great stepping stone for people who have never played this kind of game before.

hmm, just realized something. If evil kidnappers always lock you in a room, how come thev door key is always on the INSIDE of the room?
PS. Im totally with you meme. walkthrus totally suck. if you just play a game by reading a dumb old walkthru, whats the point of enjoying a good point & click game? i save walkktrus only at last resort. good job meme. i really admire people who say what they think.

Yes, but if people are going to a website where you get a list of games that are particularly difficult for some (like myself), having a walkthrough for that game is a perfect added extra. Others do not have to use it nor read it, it is merely for peeps like me. Walkthroughs should be there although I feel they should be placed upon a separate page, mainly to stop pedantic rapscallions such as yourselves.

That was fun. A little on the easy side but that's not necessarily a bad thing since I find myself having to look up walkthroughs for a lot of the other point and click games. Finishing this one without looking up any hints gave me a nice feeling of satisfaction ;-)

Justin H, i sent it to him too, and apparently so did Adam. he probably can't keep track of all the people who send him stuff -- so expecting him to give us credit is probably a lost cause.

of course, what we'd REALLY like is if he let the people who sent him the game be the first to post. and have exclusive rights to post walkthroughs and make snarky comments about other people's posts. that would be V. COOL (hint hint).

Three minutes to finish and 30 seconds of that was spent clicking the desktop 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 times.

Animation: 7 out of 10
Design: 4 out of 10
Originality: 0 out of 10
Sound/Music: 0 out of 10
Entertainment: 5 out of 10

The ratings for Originality and Sound are obivous, it's as if no thinking went into them at all.

The animation was minimal, but well done as it didn't have glitches. Missed out on three points as animations regarding objects were non-existant.

The design was minimal as well; a copy of The Crimson Room and the Veridian Room, but had its own objects and furnishings.

This would have received a lower Entertainment rating if it weren't for the music: it felt good to finish it because the music stopped.

Average total: 32%.
