Ray Room
Oh ambassador, with these point'n'click games you are really spoiling us! Not one, but two, examples of mouse clicking madness for you this fine Friday evening.

The Ray Room is confusingly Taiwanese (I think), but graphically cool, it has me stumped once again though. Here's my inventory: a power cable, chopsticks, a CD-ROM, a small packet with writing on it, a bowl, a book, a PlayStation controller, a PlayStation 2, a key and, my most favourite thing I've found in a point'n'click game ever, a little cat. I can also get some (incomprehensible) writing on the computer. But what next?

Help, blood, sweat, and tears in the comments as usual.

Update: I have now completed this one - it has one of the most anti-climatic endings I've come across. Be prepared to say "Oh, is that it?"

I feel like an incredibly stupid donkey, but PLEASE! Where is the fabled 'playstation 2'? I have been playing for ages... I even stooped so low as to using the TAB technique! *sob* This is so depressing...

Er... Yet another piece of annoying horse poo blocking my way. I can't put the PS2 and the TV together. I have seroius issues... Why am I so bad at this?? I guess I'll just have to pioneer the way for text adventures, those are my strong points...

Ugg. Yes, well. I'm done. >.< Now it's my turn to give everyone here a go at a text adventure; it's called Hamlet, it's a rather cleverly put together bit of work, good stuff going on there... http://www.robinjohnson.f9.co.uk/adventure/hamlet.html

And then there's Peasant Quest... Graeme, you've probably heard of it? Well, it's a fabulous Homestarrunner game... http://www.homestarrunner.com/disk4of12.html

i didnt think the ending was so bad.. most of the "room" games you're trying to escape... when you finally opened the door in this one, you were trying to get into the bathroom.. it made me chuckle, it wouldnt have been any better if i floated to heaven and it said "you're free!"

I beat this game a long time ago, and came back here for a minute because I was bored. I really thought that this was a cool game, and I have nothing against Amy, but the Chinese read and spell vertically (down). The characters in the game are arranged horizontally (left to right). That means the game must have been some other language, but I'm just not sure, as I can't see any other language that would have wide-known knowledge of the PS2, or a foreignly dubbed version of "The Ring." I think I believe Amy, but the vertical reading thing has been at me lately. Has anyone else realized this? Also, as far as I know right now, PS2s are illegal in China, as some legal mumbo-jumbo debate has been concerning the release of the console for some time. (Oh yeah, who would keep their PS2 in a fridge?!? Maybe a smuggled PS2?) By now I'm just wasting space, so in conclusion: Does anyone else notice that if the game were in Chinese, the characters would have to be aligned vertically? Maybe it's Korean...

Yeah! Let me translate what's exactly the story in this game:
It began with *you* was trapped in your friend's room, ie. Ray's room, after hanging out with Ray the night before. You woke up and Ray was not there and you needed to goto the loo.

There are 4 chinese characters at the left bottom corner means: DETAILS, which will tell you details and status of each item.

The thing behind the book case, is a hot water boiler, not a rice cooker, which is used for cooking for instant noodle to reveal the key. Yes, that pack thing is a pack of instant noodle.

The words displayed on the computer screen means, voice recogination verification. use the cat to *meow* to get the voice recogination to turn on the computer.

Anyway, the main aim is you need to find the way to get in the washroom.

Konni

:
BTW, there is a black packet thing with wire/cord, that is a charger.

You need to attach the charge with the power tool, yes the screw driver, and plug that to the power socket. Wait till it fully charged then use it.

Hope this help.

a difficult game to beat without a walkthrough (or knowing Chinese) -- some very non-intuitive operations. such as:
* things needing a power cord but not needing to be plugged in
* eating soup out of a bowl without taking the lid off first
* not using a voice for what's evidently voice-recognition software
* a ghost in a computer, with a t-shirt that tells you where to find a hidden cabinet with a power drill

-- stuff like that. rather like the Crimson Room on drugs.
and then the goal of the game is apparently to go to the bathroom.
but i suppose if you can do the Viridian Room, this is just the same sort of thing...

what looks like a space helmet is actually a hot-water heater -- look near where you found the noodles.
the number isn't useful until you've found it, and you find it by connecting the PS-2 to the TV.

1. get the noodles
2. get the cat under the bowl by the bed
3. get the key under the pillow
4. get he ps2 from the cupboard
5. get the cat, turn the computer on and press the cat on it.

For posterity's sake, whoever wants the intro translated (kind of, my Chinese is rusty), here it is:

Oh... I slept so well.
Been a long time since I slept so peacefully...
Cause yesterday I (something) to RAY, (something)ed clean... I've no money to go back home, so I crashed here at RAY's room.
RAY, I dunno where he is...
Odd that he'd go off so early.
Ah, I feel like taking a leak... Where's the bathroom...?

So, yeah. The whole thing revolves around getting to the bathroom. Wasn't disappointed in the least; I have trouble finding the damn drill every morning, too. ;)

I know this is all virtual and stuff but do you realise that there are so many procedures to go through to get to the toilet that the person in the game might have wee'd themselves by the time all the procedures have been done?
Just another crazy thought by me that I wanted to share with you guys.
