Jan's Room 3

Escaping the first room in Jan's Room 3 proved to pretty easy and I was very pleased with myself... although being stuck in the second room slightly tarnishes the feeling of accomplishment... [subbed by f00]

In the second room, the panels on the right have the same symbols as the note we picked up.

HINT: (click box to highlight/fade)

I assume the z on the not means to go to top left panel, top right, bottom left, bottom right.
That somehow the note tels us how to use the symbols on the panels.
And that the 4 panels = the 4 numbers needed on this side.

I am just stuck interpreting the note + panel to get a number for the combination thingy.

i'm troubled with the circle plates on the floor, I've been trying to interpret them in a few ways

read horizontally and taking the columns as numbers it would read 23212, tried pressing those numbers, then tried cycling through the 3 buttons in numerical order and using the 23212 as hoe many times i click on it.

anyone shed some light?
