Mogo-Mogo
Mogo-Mogo is a level based point'n'click puzzler, brought to you by the same smashing people that made the awesome Little Wheel last year, with some slick, yet cute, graphics and sounds. Lovely. And for an extra special treat, my suggestion is to liven up the wait for the game to load, by playing Blue Orchid by The White Stripes whilst the little Mogo-es dance on the loading screen. I swear they were made to be played together [subbed by myuhinny].

Very cute animation. But its gameplay feels way too simplistic for my tastes. I think Little Wheel was much more sophisticated. And hey, weren't we sorta hinted that there would be a continuation of that game?

This guy has serious potential! I just love these kind of interactive adventures!

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
I have a feeling Mogo-Mogo is a prequel to Little Wheel(his invention)!

No, no, no. Those dancers were all out of step for that song.

Play Billy Squier's "The Stroke" behind the loading screen and see what I mean.

Is it just me or does this game seem to be repulsively racist in its depiction of tribes both physiologically and verbally?

Is it still 1930?

That's not all, actually. This image is whats called a "pickaniny", a "coon", a "n***er", a negative racially charged image tied to minstrel shows of the 30's, and other forms of popular oppression. These stereotypes were designed to discredit and dehumanize an entire human race by making them appear foolish, frivolous, incompetent and otherwise worthless.
The idea that someone can resurrect an image as vulgar as this and noone seems to understand or care about these things sends me into despair.

it's a black rubber glove that looks nothing like a minstrel, it's all in the mind. The End

It's people that LOOK for racist imagery that keep the problem alive. Take it for what it is, just a character in a game. And hey, isn't this character actually inventing something really clever...that's quite positive isn't it?

Mm, thank you ever so much for saying something about this. I had the exact same reaction when I was simply scanning through the old games to see what I had missed in the last few months. The idea that I was just LOOKING for racist imagery, as one person put it, is incorrect and ridiculous--that certainly was the last thing on my mind while I was looking for a GAME to play.

I will not apologize (and neither should Mm) for being a person who knows history and is well aware of the awful, stereotyped images of black people, many of which still persist to this day. I don't know if it was the game creators intention to create a game that represents such a shameful part of history--and present day; perhaps it wasn't. Perhaps the creator didn't think one way or the other about it, and this was an innocent creation that just so happens to look exactly like a minstrel character, pickaninny, or the like. But ignorance or lack of intention to hurt doesn't make (what appears to me) to be a racist image any less striking to those of us who are sensitive to such issues. Pointing out such a thing is my right, and it is Mm's right. I am sick to death of people screaming "shut up!" when someone points out something that seems or feels stereotypical--this is so often the case when it comes to race issues. I won't pretend to not know my history (I say 'my' because I'm African American), or not see what it is that I see (whether my perception is accurate or not) just so other people can pretend that if we all shut up about it, there is no longer a problem.

It boggles my mind that anyone can look at this and NOT think it's racist. It's massively disappointing coming from the people who made a game as gorgeous as Little Wheel.
