So far I've

1. Got the broken bird house and given the book to the goat who raised the gate.
2. Gone right and gotten the basket of fruit and coin and lighter.
3. Gone right and gotten the bottle and filled it with water and the grapefruit.
4. Gotten the barrel and filled it with water.
5. Put the barrel over the fire pit. Put the broken birdhouse under it. Lite it. Oh and dumped the fruit into the barrel (seemed like a good idea).
6. Gave the grapefruit to the panda and took the trumpet.
7. Put the trumpet over the barrel. Oh look, steam.

That is as far as I've gotten.

Add fruit. Click on stream with drum to add water. Put drum over fire, put birdhouse underneath, light with lighter. Put trumpet on top. It's advisable to have left something to do here, so you can go away and do that. Otherwise just explore the other screens for awhile, then come back. The trumpet should be steaming fairly quickly (if not immediately) and eventually it will drip. If you can no longer remove the trumpet, then it is dripping. Place empty bottle on the drip to collect it.

After the water finally started to drip (it takes a long time), showed the red passport to the moose, filled up his glass, got the blue passport and went to the horse and showed that to him to get through the gate. Now I have a few more things and am more confused than ever. :)
