I'll try to be as specific as possible about where to click, but nevertheless prepare for a LOT of mouse-clicking...
1. Click the door. Note the imprints of the shapes on it.
2. Zoom out and click around the bottom-left of the sink. Get the blue pot on the wall by the fish and click the dark spot under the sink for the green stem.
3. Zoom out and go right. Get the small purple star on the ground to the left of the toilet (the one left of the yellow star and above the small pink one).
4. Click the area to the right of the toilet (between the toilet and the blue star) to zoom in. Get another purple star by clicking the grey smudge directly right of the toilet, where the back wall meets the ground. This may involve a lot of random clicking.
5. Zoom out and click the pictures on the wall to the right of the toilet to zoom in. On the wall with the fish, get the red flower (the second one from the left).
6. On the wall with the stars, get the blue dot in the middle of the orange flower (second from the left). Again, you may need to click a lot for it.
7. Zoom out, go right, and click on the door again. Put all of the shapes into the imprints on the door. The door will open! (You're not done yet though!!!)
8. Go out into the hallway. Now you will need to find puzzle pieces (49 in total). Get #1, 2 & 3 on the ground, on the stepladder, and under the rug. Zoom in on the keys on the wall and get #4 above the switches. Also get #32 above the bottom curve of keys.
9. Zoom out, click the shoes next to the stepladder, and get #5, 6 & 7 (near the brown shoes, in the fuzzy slippers, and under the wooden thing the shoes are on).
10. Zoom out again and click the latch on the bottom-right of the screen. Get #8 in the doorway on the right, then open the compartment in front of you for #9 & 10. Zoom out, go right, and get #11 above the door. Go right and into the next room.
11. #12 in the picture, #13 on the table in the bottom left. Go right, get #14 & 15 above the doorway and near the ground between the doorways.
12. Go right and click on the grey safe. Zoom in on the image on the safe and get #16 in the dark space under the chair. Zoom out, click the top of the safe, and get #17 & 18 under the door and on top of the chair. Note that when you click the top of the safe again you can put your puzzle pieces together. (Hold the space bar and click & drag with your mouse to rotate the pieces.)
13. Zoom out twice and go into the next room. Click the plant and get #19.
14. Zoom out and click the desk. Get #20 under the paper, 21 in the bottom-left drawer, and 22 in the bottom right drawer.
15. Zoom out, go right, click the cabinet, then the computer. Get #23 in between the papers.
16. Zoom out. Starting from the top-left, get #24 in the 1st column of drawers, third drawer, #25 from 1st column 6th drawer, #26 from 3rd column 5th drawer, and #27 from 4th column 3rd drawer.
17. Go right and get #28 from the left picture. Zoom out and get #29 & 30 from the top of the doorway and the picture of Einstein.
18. Zoom in on the chair, then go right. Get #32 slightly hidden underneath the cushion on the chair.

**NOTE: There is a glitch with the 3rd column, 5th drawer of the black drawers which allowed me to get the required number of puzzle pieces. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), this did not happen upon my second incomplete playthrough, so I do not know the locations of all the puzzle pieces. Feel free to add on to this walkthrough with the other locations of the pieces. (Apparently there's a part involving a present, but I never did any of this.)

19. Find the remaining puzzle pieces and put the puzzle together on the top of the safe. (The puzzle is of the image on the safe.) Open the safe and read the yellow note.
20. Go to the hallway and click on the keys on the wall. (This part involves some random clicking.) Click the keys until you get the correct one (it will show up in the bottom-right of your inventory bar), then go to the door next to the safe, use it on the door, and you're out!

I believe there were two pieces on the plant - a dark one among the leaves, and a white one hidden on the upper right area of the cloth.

Also, play with the curtains for a bit for a piece - click the left side in the view with the desk.

41 pieces and the present, blah! Where's this computer chip thing that people were talking about? I think I must just be really blind and not seeing it.

When you're looking at the top of the dresser with the computer, zoom in to the right hand corner ( you'll see the back of the monitor and the books) It's near the blue leaflet sticking out.
