Sorry folks but Lazylaces is on a short break whilst I get everything together for the big move to the US on Friday. Peruse the sites under "more games" on the right hand panel to get your gaming fix whilst I'm away, or try looking through the vaults. I'll see you Stateside shortly...

Hey, Good Luck with the Move!! Welcome Home. :)

I have a question for the UK'ers...

I had (my ex-wife got him and his wife in the divorce) a friend from England. They were very financial poorly off, due to a layoff, and when I saw them at Christmas, he told me that it wasn't so bad, he got some chocolate. When I replied that I hoped it was GOOD chocolate, he told me in no uncertain terms that he was thrilled, because it was Cadbury's...
Now, PLEASE tell me that there is a difference in the quality of Cadbury's Chocolate in England, compared to here in the states, because I have to say that I would rank Cadbury's (when compared with other "domestic" chocolates, i.e. Hersheys, Dove,) at or near the bottom. I do LOVE the Cadbury Creme Eggs, but as far as mere chocolate goes, i would not consider Cadbury's to be the treat, that my (ex) friend, and some others have praised it to be.... does anyone have experience with both? i know that cigarettes, even though they carry the same brand name (i.e. Marlboro) are NOT the same In Europe..

I happen to be a big fan of Droste Chocolate disks... they are superior to ANY American Chocolate.. including Ghiradelli, currently the best American Chocolate, IMO.

anyway.. Cheers Graeme...we'll (barely) get by till you get back to brightening our lives with your posts. Congrats too! ;)

Yes, American cadbury chocolate is a sad rip off of the English version

I think there are different versions of the same products in the UK, US and Canada. Not always: some things like Heinz ketchup and Coke seem quite stable whereas others like Kellogs Bran Flakes and Oreos are different depending where you are. Even in the UK Cadbury's is not my favourite chocolate.

Best of luck Graeme. Now you can be the new Bill Bryson (unless the old one takes exception to this), regaling us with witty tales of the US seen through British eyes....try not to snort through your nose the first time an American comes up to you and says, 'Hi, I'm Randy'. (You're not supposed to respond, 'Really? Me too!')

As a fellow "immigent" here to yakeeland, prepare to be driven insane by the fact that they can't spell anything right. They can't say anything right, and they believe that "England" and "Britain" are one and the same. (Which is doubly funny, as I am a skip, ergo, better than any pom)

Clemson Chris, it's like Kit Kat and many other candy bars, they don't taste the same in the US vs other countries I have visited: in the US, they're made by Hershey (if you read the fine prints) while in Canada and Europe, they're made by Nestle.

I have to say that Kit Kat tastes way better anywhere else in the world. I hate Hershey's chocolate.

Flux...

as lazylaces resident grammarian (a self appointed title and not to be confused with a Graeme-arian.. that would be his spouse, i hope )

however... you are correct... Americans are horrible at grammar AND spelling... but based on your claim, "they can't spell anything right. They can't say anything right,".... the correct syntax would be, "They can't spell anything correctly. They can't say anything correctly." Clearly this is an issue worldwide, and not just limited to the Yanks. Whew... my work is cut out for me; I thought it was just the USA who had grammar issues... ;)
