The Apothecary of Ostia
The Apothecary of Ostia is the nice looking, nice sounding, but easy to play (it's intended for kids though), second instalment of The BBC's Roman Mysteries point'n'click series [subbed by sassymom08].

The first one was a little confuddling - this one is just downright infuriating!! Just typical of the BBC!!

How unlike (and unworthy of :-)) the BBC: this game is buggy!

First time I played, I paid my coins but it wasn't enough. I tried to pickup the papers, figuring that delivering them would earn me some extra money, but I couldn't. I tried talking to the apothecary, but all he kept saying was that I should put some coins on his bench and he would see if it was enough. I even tried bribing him with some healthy leaves (without telling him of course that I found them in front of his own doorstep) but nothing worked.
So, I finally reloaded and then not only could I pickup a second bottle of honey, but I also found money both on the bench and in front of the apothecary shop (it wasn't there before!). Happily, I went inside, willing and able to pay, but the pot on the bench was already full of money as well!

All in all, I ended up making the medicine as required, while still the lucky owner of a pot of honey and two fistfulls of doll.. eh asses and sesterces...!

This game is a bit buggy. There were coins on the bench but none in front of the apothecary so I restarted the game and only then were the coins in both places.

PB, just start a new game with a different name!

I didn't have any problems with the 2nd set of coins--they were there the first time. These are, as usual for the BBC, really nicely done little games. Sure, they're for children, but I love the cut scenes when you do something correctly.

What! We have to wait a whole week for the next installment? Darn.
