Tanaka
Tanaka could well be an easy point'n'click game, but unless you speak Japanese you're never going to know. This one really plays with your mind, and you'll quickly become convinced that you're losing it. Start the game from this linked page by clicking "Tanaka", rather than by clicking "ENTER" (which is there in great big letters). You raise an eyebrow... Then watch the intro sequence featuring space aliens in a space ship that looks uncannily like a flying pig. You double-take... The game then seems to take place in a series of indecipherable apartments that make little sense, and who knows what the goal could possibly be? You start to blink continually and drool from the corner of your mouth... You then realize that when you pick up an item you don't see a picture of it in your inventory, you actually see (what I assume is) the Japanese description of the object. Your brain promptly implodes, then leaks out of your ear... First person to give up/not play wins/stays sane [subbed by winniethepooh].

Sure the _ultimate_ goal of the game is _just_ to point & click.

Anyone got any further ? I have 3 items (seemingly objects you pick) and 8 targets (seemingly "names" of people you meet) but I'm stuck... & my admittedly very small) Japanese dictionary is of no help !

HELP SOMEONE !!! I'm still stuck at the very same point, with only 3 items... and I can't tell you which ones of course (although I suspect there is an egg and some sort of tooth).
Okay, I haven't being doing that all day, but I get back to it from time to time...

For anyone who doesn't want to go over to Nordinho, here is Po-chan's marvelous walkthrough.

You are a member of the United Spacelings who are trying to find out how friendly the earthlings are. Your objective is to invite all eight residents of the apartment building to a nabe (hot-pot) party to find out how friendly they are by controlling an alien-made earthlingbot Tanaka.

Each resident wants something and when you give it to him/her, s/he will accept the invitation.

It's kind of long to translate all the dialogs and stuff as it involves 8 parties. So, I'll provide simplified walkthrough and some explanation.

Walkthrough/explanation:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)

1. Get a hamster (実験動物) from the cage in Tanaka's room (202).

2. Go outside to the bicycle lot and talk to the kid (子供) then give hamster (実験動物) to him. His name should turn yellow (meaning he's accepted the invitation). He'll also give you a set of keys (ゴツイ鍵).

3. Search the bicycles and get an egg (タマゴ).

4. Go to 102, talk to the girl (姉さん), give her the egg (タマゴ) then exit the room and enter again. She’ll let you in. Turn around and talk to her and get a piece of cake (ケーキ). Keep talking to her till her response doesn’t change any more and give her the keys (ゴツイ鍵). She’s in.

5. Explore her room and get a weak portion of hydrochloric acid (弱塩酸) from the box under the TV (side view).

6. Exit the room and go all the way to the left. Get a denture (入れ歯) from a white shirt.

7. Go to 201. Give the landlord the cake (ケーキ), exit and go in again. Get a house key (家の鍵) from under the piano chair.

8. Go to 104 and use the house key (家の鍵), enter the room, get a red car (赤い車) from the bed.

9. Go to the parking lot, talk to the father (父親) and give him the red car (赤い車) and hydrochloric acid (弱塩酸). He’ll agree to come and give you a chain (鎖).

10. Go to 101. Talk to an old man and give him the denture (入れ歯) and old lady the chain (鎖). They’ll be coming to the party.

11. Go to 103. Go inside, turn around and talk to the lady. She’ll agree to come (because her kid and husband is coming). Explore and get a red key (赤い鍵) from the bottom drawer of the grey cabinet under the bunk bed.

12. Go back to the parking lot, use the key (赤い鍵) on the white pickup and get some cigarettes (タバコ).

13. Go to 204, give the guy the cigarettes, exit and re-enter. Find the secret passage (above the laptop) into 203. Go in, explore and get another set of keys (凄い家の鍵) from the bouquet.

14. Go back to 201, enter and go to the closet. Give the keys (凄い家の鍵) to the landlord. He’ll agree to come.

15. Go back to 204, talk to the guy (at his work station). He’ll tell you to go back to your room and get ready (ホラ、早く自分の部屋にもどれよ。準備があるだろ？).

Apparently, the landlord and the guy in 204 are hostile aliens planning to invade the Earth and knew Tanaka was an alien-made earthlingbot but let him do his job so that they wouldn't be detected. So, the plot is supposed to get thicken. Maybe there'll be a sequel... Who knows.

There are some bugs - there were some tasks I couldn't complete even with following the directions and I couldn't zoom in which would have been useful, but it is cute even with the language problem. ENJOY!!
