Da Vinci Code Quest
The Da Vinci Code Quest began on April 17th (drat missed it, but *phew* - you can play catch up), and gives you a puzzle to solve every day for 24 days. If you solve all 24 puzzles correctly you have a chance of winning "untold riches" (tickets to preview screenings of the film would be my uncharitable guess). The two "puzzles" I've played so far have been simple, but quite nice, flash mini games. I'm not sure if things are going to get harder as time goes on. The best thing about the game, at least for g33ks like me, is that it integrates into your personalised google homepage, so I'll actually remember to play everyday. See the pic below [subbed by THC & sopdox].

It's like who has the biggest ... here, what is it with the race to be the first to get the answers posted?

Yes the above question is a stumper and google search is no help as it either brings you here or to a advanced physics blog.

(1 / the magnetic constant) / electric constant = 8.98755179 exarads

aren't you guys trying to compete with one another for this thing rather than trying to help everyone out? Just wondering.

Kim and Salka, thanks for tipping me off to the puzzle under the da vinci gallary! Here's what I have figured out: find all the hidden symbols then, on each character, peel back and see the symbols, then click on them in that order. Each one reveals a new clue. I have not figured out what to do next. Any thoughts? Some clues I've found:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
Saint Sulpice of Paris

and

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
Lisa Amon = god of fertility + god of masculinity

There is also the "moving painting" but I have no idea what that one is saying.

So maybe I am stupid, but if this is a competition, and you are competing against others for the top prizes, why publish the answers?

Rob, Googling the questions doesn't always work! See post #355, for instance.

Off to Paris!: Yes, it's a competition, but we'll all figure the answers out, anyway. So we'll all wind up in the same draw for the prize(s). It's not a race. I figure if I can help someone today ... maybe they'll help me later on! :)

Any help on the "hidden Greek Cross" in todays puzzle?

My day twelve, after solving the puzzle, reads; "By adding some PIZAZZ to A NOVEL IDEA and rearranging the letters, you'll get the location of a museum in this eternal city. What is the name of the city?" On the bottom of the picture it says "©2005 Google -Imagery ©2005 Digital Globe". I never understood the first question, so if someone could help me understand how to find the answer to this, what to google map search, etc...It'd be a great help =].

Comment 374, Friday, April 28th 2006 06:22:00 PM

Cnorth

:
if you put the name of the museum name in Google Maps it gives you the same map, but has a red x on the spot where it is. Then just click it on the game map! Hope this helps, it was pretty easy today

I got the first question xD, now I'm stumped on the second :\.

Comment 376, Friday, April 28th 2006 06:25:00 PM

Toonafeesh

:
That was easy, type "eternal city" in google to get your first answer and then type the name of the museum into google maps and get your second answer...

Comment 377, Friday, April 28th 2006 06:27:00 PM

Hungrytrash

:
Blah I did that, and I found the place, but it looks nowhere like the map on the puzzle =\, maybe I'm just retarded =[.

Ditto on John M's question.

Comment 379, Friday, April 28th 2006 06:33:00 PM

Cnorth

You have to type the name of the city and the place, if not if gives you a different map. In a different city there is a place by the same name and i guess that one is the default. Try it again and add the city name along with it!

John M is making things up as people have mentioned its not the same map. I searched "rome" on Google maps, on satellite mode. If you zoom in to the center of the city u can get a much clearer view of the same map... and with a little searching you can find a greek cross (looks like a + ) good luck.

Sorry to sound dense, but I went to Google Maps, typed in
SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
palazzo venezia, rome, italy
, and it points to a place
SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
slightly above the big white building.
I've tried clicking all around that area to no avail. Please provide more specific help (and feel free to treat me like a four-year-old if necessary).

hohum, fancy a holiday to Rome now after all that... go and have my photo taken in the greek cross just for the hell of it.. :p

Comment 388, Friday, April 28th 2006 06:44:00 PM

Hungrytrash

:
Here is how to solve it xD!
SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
Google map something like this, "Palazzo Di Venezia, Rome." Then the red indicator is the same place you want to click on the game ;).
SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)

Don't aim for the white building, aim for the top left of it.

Palazzo Venezia is in the center of the photo, in front and to the oblique left of the massive white marble monument to Vittorio Emanuele. Tower and facade face the park and street in front of the monument. You'll see the greek cross there!

Comment 392, Friday, April 28th 2006 06:59:00 PM

Jonski

:
Where to click on map...

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
find white circular building in middle of map (top third) click just outside grey surrounding area, in North West region)

sorry that probably confuses u more!!

Comment 393, Friday, April 28th 2006 07:01:00 PM

Di

:

HINT: (click box to highlight/fade)
It looks more like a shadow, than a building, and it's not on the Google Maps (the one you can zoom in on).

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
Go to the gray space above the big white building, and then click exactly next to it.

Comment 394, Friday, April 28th 2006 07:29:00 PM

I have tried clicking all around the area near the big white building and i still arent getting anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!! Any help???

I can't decide if i just Love you guys or hate you... Everytime a puzzle comes out, i'm always inclined to take the easy way and check you guys out... :( i don't put that much effort anymore in the search... too bad!
Anyway, i clicked on the map ( top left of white bldg), although there was no cross on the map in this area... the only cross i found was on the RIGHT side... which proves, if it was up to my search, i would still be clicking around the right side of the bldg, going NUTSSSSSSSSS.... :)

Comment 397, Friday, April 28th 2006 07:46:00 PM

Colin

:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
click on the center courtyard on the square of buildings to the left of the grey road in front of the round white building
.

Comment 398, Friday, April 28th 2006 07:52:00 PM

Hungrytrash

:
It's NOT hard, just follow these instructions EXACTLY =].
SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
Search this in google maps, DO NOT CHANGE IT =], "Palazzo Di Venezia, Rome." You will be brought to a map with a red indicator, THAT is where you click on the game map. It's soooo simple, good luck.

Comment 399, Friday, April 28th 2006 08:11:00 PM

I tried google map but it wouldnt load fully, after God knows how long i finally found the damn cross. Hungrytrash you was right it was sooooooo simple. Thanks :)
