The Da Vinci Code Quest began on April 17th (drat missed it, but *phew* - you can play catch up), and gives you a puzzle to solve every day for 24 days. If you solve all 24 puzzles correctly you have a chance of winning "untold riches" (tickets to preview screenings of the film would be my uncharitable guess). The two "puzzles" I've played so far have been simple, but quite nice, flash mini games. I'm not sure if things are going to get harder as time goes on. The best thing about the game, at least for g33ks like me, is that it integrates into your personalised google homepage, so I'll actually remember to play everyday. See the pic below [subbed by THC & sopdox].

:Well, I live in Utah and my wife just called me to tell me a package with a cryptex just came in the mail. She said it is a substantial piece and looks very nice. I haven't received an email yet, but at least I know its coming.
I finished the 24th puzzle at 12 minutes after the hour. So, I'm sure that anyone at 12 minutes and under at least will be a finalist.

:My wife tells me I have a cryptex in today's mail delivery! This is WAY better than a decoder ring! My 5-year old is gonna explode!
D.S.L.
:i havent gotten an e-mail or a cryptex yet..... but then again, my mail doesn't usually arrive for another hour or 2, so there's still hope....right? also, i thought the cryptex's weren't being shipped untill the 18th?
Vicki
:For those who recieved the cryptex, when you went to www.google.com/davincicode what did you see? For those who haven't received a cryptex, what did you see?
Dk
:Rules state the item will be shipped for scheduled delivery before the 18th. Shipping 10,000 boxes may take more than one day to complete so if you dont get one today it is concevable that it may still arrive tomorrow
Dragonfly
:Sorry to confuse you. I was referring to the Google Quest that's already concluded.
PB
:The final challenge begins at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Friday the 19th and all finalists will have 48 hours from then to begin and finish the five puzzles. The rules tell us that it doesn't matter when you begin the final challenge, so you could wait a day or so. What matters is how long it takes to finish once you clock in to begin.
The only real problem with this game is that the grand prize winner will get $198,000 in prizes but no cash, so they will have to come up with anywhere from $35,000 to $50,000 out of their own pocket to pay the IRS the taxes that will be due. Then there may be state taxes as well, depending on where you live. Ooof! Not a very nice prospect. Who can afford to win????
Mitch
:Just to let everyone know I just recieved my mail...it's 2:24 pm in Alabama and even though I didn't recieve my E-mail yet I was rewarded when i got my mail inside was my Cryptex...WOOOO HOOOOO I'm in..It came in a box from Skycastle entertainment in burbank California...This is real and it is sooooooo cool ....Goodluck everyone
Dragonfly
:For those of you who have received a cryptex, how was is shipped: USPS, FedEx, UPS? Yeah, I don't know how anyone can deal with the taxes on that. I know I couldn't!
Mitch
:Mine came in the regular mail ....oh when I answered the puzzle i was done inside of 4 Min....it has a code word on the back it says Grail and is very heavy for it's size.....waiting to take it out of the box until my daughter gets home from school she did this with me the whole time
Mitch
:On another site someone said it will take several days for everybody to get theres.....I don't think they expected some to show up before the E-mail ...but if you haven't gotten one yet at least the e-mail will confirm if u have one coming...and no I haven't gotten my E-mail yet from them
D.S.L.
:has anyone gotten an e-mail yet?
Ynottperfect
:I just got mine, no email though. Keep your hopes up! US Mail, I expected the cryptex to be larger. It's only 4" long.
Anon
:My cryptix arrived in the mail! I'm so excited. Thank you to the folks who helped here, I hope you all won one too.
I GOT ONE!
D.S.L.
:ugh! my mail doean't get here for another hour or so.
Lance
:WOO HOO!!
I got my Cryptex!!
I was reading that people had received theirs I thought they were joking. Most of these contests tell you that you won and will recieve your prize in 6 to 8 weeks! Kudos to Tristar and Google!!!
Dragonfly
:Congrats to everyone who's had one delivered! I can't wait to get off work and see if I have something waiting for me :)
PrincessKitty
:No e-mail yet, and I don't get home from work until 6pm (Pacifice Time) so I hafta wait 5 hours to find out unless they send the e-mail!
Jonski
:anyone from uk got anything yet? I'm waitin for gmail or have i got wrong?
Joru
:Got my Cryptex. Didn't get an email but I got it open. The code was Paril (I was trying to spell paris since it's five letter and came up alot during the guest but it definately opened for me using paril...paris doesn't work) Anyone know that the word means?
Grayyce
:Got mine today...here in Tennessee.
Vicki
:I got my cryptex in the mail a little while ago. Given the high number of people reporting receiving them and when you go to the website it says congratulations IF you are a finalist, I am thinking that they sent out a lot more than 10,000 of them and only 10,000 of us will be finalists. I finished around 1:10PM on the 10th or whatever the last day of new puzzles was. Congrats to everyone who has gotten one! Has ANYONE gotten and e-mail from Sony or Google today about the contest?
Joru
:one more thing....they cheaped out on the crytex....you only have to get the last two letter right to open it so paril might not be "right".....all you need is the IL at the end.
Grayyce
:How high do you think the bidding will go for these on Ebay? Just curious since one is already up to $61.00 at this point.
Imissmysoldier
:the word is supposed to be Grail but it opens as long as the last two are on I L
Mitch
:in answer to the peril Question its not that but if you look on the back of the box it says CRYPTEX CODE:GRAIL....anyway thought the whole peril thing was cute though
Alessandra
:I'm very mad.... I got an email last week to confirm my registration and saying congratulations for completing all 24 puzzles. Now, today when I opened my Google page I got this message: "The Quest has come to an end. You completed 23 of the 24 puzzles." How can that be? Has this happen to anyone else? I'm very sad! I completed the last puzzle 3 minutes after it was release.... I was positive that I made into the 10,000 finalist..... :-(
Cassie
:alessandra, i feel soooooo bad for u!
Mitch
:I'm so Sorry about what happened you...is there a way that you can get ahold of them and send a copy of your email confirming it...also maybe it's just a mess up and your cryptex is still on the way...anyway hoping for you
Cassie
:im gonna miss this da vinci quest, just coming on here and chating(gettin help;)
Peter
:I got mine. Has anyone had a password other than "GRAIL"? It seems to me that while all the tumblers are grooved, the first few letters don't interact with the locking mechanism on the "key" piece.
Dk
:Got home at 5:00 CST (in Chicago) and mine was in the mail. WOOHOO! Still no email though. Good luck to all those here that made the final cut.
T-Bone
:Hi!! I've never posted a message here, although many an evening has been spent lurking. But I've finally found a reason to post!!! Opened today's mail to receive.......A CRYPTEX!!!!!!!!!!!! >Insert golden shaft of sunlight from heaven, a la Terry Gilliam, and oohs and ahhhhs here< Not the cheap piece of plastic I was expecting either! Die-cast and very well made. No matter what, this cryptex is worth all the time and trouble on the quest, and is dedicated to Graeme and everybody else who gave a hint, a clue or a nudge (nudge, nudge, say no more) in the right direction!! THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Milton
:OMG~!!! Same! I finished the last puzzle 9minutes after it came on google and today i checked and it said i completed only 23 of 24 puzzles!!! wtf?!
LeAnn
:me & a guy I work with got ours today! WOO HOO!! Thank you thank you!!!
Maggie
:I haven't gotten mine. I guess I did not qualify :( *sniff* Oh well. It was fun. I was told that maybe I should wait till tomorrow since its shipping from California and I live in Maryland. I wont get my hopes up though.
Silas
:damn that page that tells u that u are a finalist or not (www.google.com/davincicode) told me i was a finalist and IDK I can wait to get my CRYPTEX I probably havent gotten it due to the fact that i live in florida
Silas
:damn that page that tells u that u are a finalist or not (www.google.com/davincicode) told me i was a finalist and IDK I can wait to get my CRYPTEX I probably havent gotten it due to the fact that i live in florida
Silas
:can some one tell me what the page (www.google.com/davincicode) tells u so i can be sure
Cheryl
:silas--
i went to www.google.com/davincicode & it says <b>IF</b> you're one of our finalists, congratulations. i would check back and see if yours says the same thing, cos i think it is a standard message for anyone who views the page
Konfused
:Everyone who has got the cryptex, what is inside of it? No one has said anything about that and I was just curious.
Salka
:Silas, i agree with Cheryl, i got a cryptex and all i got in the message inside was go to the website www.google/davincicode which then says congratulations IF you're a finalist, so what does that mean?
I'm starting to think Vicki is right, that more than 10,000 people got the cryptex, but only the finalist got another message on the website. So Silas, what EXACTLY does your message say??
Lost da mind
:Well has any one gotten a E-mail yet? I havent gotten one but didnt get a cryptex either. Good luck to all who did make the 10,000!! If you win the big prize remember all of us while youre traveling around!!
Silas
:well it says congrats that u are one of our finalists and my cousin checked the same page but he never completed puzzle #24 so it said some thing else (it said thank u for participating we are sorry
Mitch
:How would the web site know who u are when u don't punch in any identification...just the web site link
Peter
:CHRIST PEOPLE! Anyone can type in the motherf-ing address. That's why it says "IF" you're a finalist. Did you get a cryptix? If so, you're a f-ing finalist. Now quit pissing yourselves and take a nap until Friday.
"OMFG I GOT A CRYPTIX BUT IT SAYS 'IF' OH NOES!!!!"
Get a grip.
Jud
:anyone from NY??? cause I didnt get a cryptex yet....
Mitch
:I think it says" if ur a finalist "because others can happen into the site like the people ur talking about that are going on but didn't win...inside my cryptex it says congradulations ...and the web site says you are earl so....as far as I know they said only 10000 and they can't change that by laws governing sweepstakes but then again who knows....hehe
Mitch
:LMAO Peter thankyou very much....well said
Cnorth
:I JUST GOT MY EMAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am IN!!!! WOOOOHOOOOOO
Ok just had to tell someone
