If you have your own web site pop on over to Silktide SiteScore to see how your site rates for marketing, design, accessibility, experience, and visitor opinion. It provides a very good analysis of your site and is free with no registration required. As a result of my 7.9/10 score, I'll be improving LL's accessibility soon, as that's where I scored poorly (which I wouldn't have thought of without using this tool).

Thanks Lazylaces, as always providing some useful and fun stuff. I tested my site with this and got a 7.6! (Damn, I said 7 twice)

but what did you DO? i don't notice anything. (wheelchair ramps, rofl.) perhaps i'm already accessing it optimally? surely not -- my online LL experience is constantly disrupted by inane posts of "first!" and "second!", plus i get stuck at some point in every SINGLE p-&-c game i play, plus the Quest for Ikambokem still has a sucky ending. is there a patch for all that?

I basically changed the HTML to obey the XHTML 1.0 Transitional rules and made sure all the images on the site "alt" text values.

T~P: You have your own website? Do share! Anyway....

Check the source code of any LL page (right click and choose "view page source"). Near the top you should see a "!DOCTYPE" declaration - it's actually for "XHTML 1.0 Transitional". You need this at the top of any web page you write (or a similar declaration for whatever HTML/XHTML schema you choose). Then use the w3c validator: <a href="http://validator.w3.org/">http://validator.w3.org/</a>. This will tell you where your page(s) are invalid. If you correct your pages according to the feedback from the validator until it certifies you "valid" you'll be done. That's all I did - I found it very easy, and strangely theraputic.

This is pretty nifty, but it also seems totally inaccurate to me :{{

I compared my two art sites(one I have abandoned and one I actively update), IE areautena.deviantart.com to areautena.sheezyart.com

SheezyART got a significantly higher score, and claims to be ridiculously well linked to. It's ridiculous, it's not even funny. #49,538 in the world, yet 6,410 websites link here.

DeviantART is, in reality, more popular and well-liked, and I have tons more views, comments, watchers, and the like there. However, 319 websites link here. (But it's #485 in the world!)

Also, SheezyART won the google contest and DeviantART failed, so I guess that is a big contribution. They just don't know what to search for, I guess?

Lawling at the British Disability Discrimination Act, though, as I've yet to find any website that it accepts, and I wouldn't know how to fix this, even if I could control the coding of my art sites. (I'm going to have my own site one day for my webcomic)

lol, let's hear it for "strangely therapeutic" -- sort of the theme mantra for LL.

and i NEED the address for the Think~Pink website! how can i go on without this? life is empty and meaningless without it!

lol, oops...me and my big mouth!

It isn't actually MY website, (although I did build it, albeit for someone else).
It's a sort of project to teach myself web design...but I still have a LONG way to go.

At the moment, it is created with Front Page, (which I am quite familiar with), but I am getting braver and venturing into unchartered territory with Dreamweaver, as it is more friendly, (so I am told).
It's going to take a while for me to figure out how to use Dreamweaver, so the site will have to stay in FP for now.

Graeme, thanks for your reply...but I am still none the wiser lol.
I have no idea what Doctype I should use, as FP doesn't seem to include DTD's, and when I assign one myself, I get all manner of problems, which I have no idea how to fix lol.

Unfortunately, unlike you Graeme, I am not a code guru, and my knowledge in that department is extremely limited, which is why I have to rely on editors to generate my code for me *hangs head* On with the learning!!

Tafkam...I don't have my own website yet...but when I do, you'll be the first to know ;o)
