Right, I fully admit a BBC News story about proposed cheaper peak time rail fares into London Waterloo station has a limited audience (me, and at best 1% of you guys), but anything that reduces my commuting bill (over £220 pounds a month currently) is absolutely superb news worth shouting about for me. And look at this way, the less money I'm spending on travel, the more I have for my ever increasing web hosting bills for Lazylaces (don't even ask - it's getting depressing).

I know everyone will kill me for suggesting it, but why don't you get some sponsorship already? Put some ads up, I'm sure you get enough traffic to attract some advertisers. I'd rather you do that then take the site down someday when the cost gets out of hand.

how about one of those fancy people zippers (also known as a Segway)...people here in Berkeley are all for it. However only those who are super lazy/rich own them...start a trend Graeme...

Hmmm...

For anyone trying to navigate central London, Segway = death wish.

Also my commute is 40 miles+, that would take, like, 20 days on a segway.

but you'd look so COOL -- scarf blown back in the wind, brolly tucked neatly under over-coatted elbow, pipe clenched firmly in jaw, faraway gaze in eyes as you trundle sedately through the unending ebb and flow of motour vehicles...

Well then there's only one solution to your transportation problem....get rich and hire a driver. =)

Even if the rail companies do start running more trains between 6 and 8 a.m., getting employers to allow more flexible working patterns will be an uphill struggle. There's plenty of folk who would be happy to work, say 7-3 instead of 9-5 but getting approval for it can be difficult.

As for hosting charges, have you rejected the idea of advertising? Maybe a tip jar?

Wow Graeme, I didnt know you had to travel THAT far to get to work! You know, the cost of transport over here is just way to high and....
Even hiring a driver can be hard, what with the traffic and all. But reduced fares means a higher price in some other way (maybe council tax or congestion charging), so I wouldnt get my hopes up too soon....
