Leon & The Magic Sturgeon
Your name is Leon and you're sister is ill with an incurable terminal illness... the only thing that may cure her is touching the magical sturgeon, which is lost somewhere on a remote island. Such is the unlikely story of Leon & The Magic Sturgeon, which wins an award for most bizarre plot in a point'n'click game [slapped subbed by kate].

Not that tough, but I could certainly do with a volume control (a mute, actually) since I can in fact read the subtitles. I found the interface a bit odd but it was interesting that he could smell, hear, look, and "handle" things--gave it a bit of variety.

As to the interface, you talk to people by clicking the hand and then the person. You then get icons across the top representing what things you can talk about. Once you get used to it, it's not bad. The pointer changes to a hand for those things that apply to whichever mode you're in, so if you can't smell something but can look at it, you get a plain arrow for smell and a pointer hand for the eye, etc.

I had two very difficult spots to get through. I've used nested spoilers below so you can see just what you need to at a time (I hope--it works for me). Note if you have an RSS feed, it doesn't hide anything in that display of the thread, and there's a bit of formatting silliness after a block is closed with just a single word on the first line. Still, it's a great improvement over other approaches!

One was

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
at the "shop" on Sturgeon Isle where I had to

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
grab the tiny key from him as he handled it. I don't recall him looking away but I think there may have been such a point in the sequence.

The other was

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
in the cave, where I couldn't find

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
anything to break the blue case with but finally noticed

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
a stalagmite on the far right to

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
hit the stalactite above it with

The cut scenes are a bit slow but okay, given the level of graphics in the first place. Other hints for puzzles:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)

Keypad:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
numbers are shown as the sum of two letters--the appropriate key is the one with those two letters overlaid on top of each other

Small rocks:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
I clicked the second one and got a blue gem. I don't know what happens if you click the others first.

Lock for the box:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
What kind of Sturgeon is this?

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
It's a Magic Sturgeon

Hope that helps.

Torqane: Nice work! You are right about the spoliers in the rss feeds - if you know a good way I could get this to work let me know as I couldn't come up with anything - for now at least it marks spoilers in bold.

I have a problem in the cave. I know there is something blue hidden in stalactites. I wanted to take a stalagmite (that one which is loose) and reach the blue thing. But I can't take the loosed stalagmite. What should I do?

Hi I can't find any coins to pay for the boat. I got one from the house but no more. I think I the games has not loaded properly as nothing is showing up in the inventory for me. Any clues on the coin situation?
thanks

Silly,

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
if you mean that one where the yellow stone is inside, there is a number 43216. The keys are letters mixed with another letters, f.ex. M+T etc. Look above, there is also written which numbers are which letters (f.ex. 3 = M+T). Press the right letters (keys) instead of numbers.

I am not so good in explaining in English but I hope it helps. ;)

Darkbex,

the inventory should be at the top of the screen, above the eye, hand etc.

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
Have you checked outside the house? Have you searched near Pirate?

to beat the boat, make sure you click the arrows that goes the same way the evil guy does, and only fire when he's right in front of you.

before you can loose the stalagmite, you have to have raised the blue case first, and put in the password.

Atrox, I crashed about 40 times before finding the boat direction arrows. I was cussing out the game because clicking left and right of the boat itself did nothing. MOst people I think are used to control buttons *below* the action. I think, because the first crash happens so quickly, it would also help if the sinking-boat cutscene didn't "cover up" the controls, maybe that would clue people in a little faster.

I think the shopkeeper with the chest has to be looking away in order to swipe the key.

I had managed to get all the way through completely unaided... then I came to the boat chase.
I spent more time on that little scene, than I had on the rest of the game...curse those blasted rocks...arrrr ><
Eventually, I somehow managed to dodge that evilness and kill the bad guy...hurrah!! My sister is saved!!

This was a good little game though, even if the puzzles weren't that difficult...the chase was, (for me anyway). Thanks for posting it :o)

On another note, I loved the old school Commodore/ZX Spectrum loading screen at the beginning. A nostalgic reminder of those long loading times where you could order pizza, eat it, take a bath and get a drink before the game had fully loaded...ahhhh..those were the days ><

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
You have to click each letter in turn, each time pressing the lever to the left, and if the letter is correct, a green light will illuminate above it.
The password is an actual word...5 letters long. Think what kind of fish you are searching for....a sturgeon yes...but what kind of sturgeon?

Jack:

SPOILER: (click box to reveal/hide)
The yellow gem is found inside the chest, next to the stall, on sturgeon island.
You will need a key...hmmm....who will have the key? The storekeeper...you are going to have to get it from him.

I honestly can't figure out the locked box with the yellow gem. I know what the answer is from reading the posts, but how do you enter it? I don't get the number/letter thing. Why do I have so much trouble on the easy parts???

Tze, this was the bane of my life also.
The only advice I can give you, is to keep your eye on the direction the professors boat is going, and then click the corresponding red arrow to follow him.
Also, only hit the fire button, when his boat is directly in front of yours, or you will miss him.

It is quite difficult, trying to keep your eye on his boat and watching the red arrows at the same time, but after a few tries, you will get the hang of it. Good luck :o)

I think you have to crack the code first before you can progress with the stalagmites/stalactites.

The chase at the end is the most poorly created action sequence EVER in a game. It's nothing short of frustrating. The explanation is terrible, then when you finally figure out what you're suposed to do, it takes forever to get the poorly laid out timing right. Piece 'o crap game.
