Casino
The third, and final, of the trio of qual-it-tay point'n'click games for today, Casino is the latest offering from la masion de anode et cathode (apologies for my poor French) so you know you are in safe hands [subbed by may, think~pink & anna].

Number 929! WOOT. Not bad, I've never finished one of these without help before. I needed to get a tiny bit of assist on one part, but other than that, I did the dirty work myself~ Yay!

Oh my gosh no.939, I am soooooo late! Cha!! This is the first of the series that i have played...start with the last game and end with the first..yea, thats the way to do it....

I'm still proud of myself tho, needed a few hints but other than that i did it!

Ending was sweet...awww...the cliche kiss at the end, how romantic *gag*

Took my hours, my back is aching and my eyes have turned square.
Thanks for all the hints, you all have been a great help etc etc.

good find on the safe code. Tho not needed, a great void in gamers-dom has just been filled. Never thought of using the "dash"

Here's the answer to the riddle if you care to know. It has nothing to do with the game but if you tried it and wanted to check your answer here it is (i think):

Office:You, milk, 32, key, fish
House: Sandy, tea, 0158, pearl, koala
Taxi: Chaffuer, whiskey, 175-534-477, wheel, dogs
Museum: Speiler, beer, 2681789, hat, monkey
Casino: A & C, champagne, 36, electrolosis, cats.

I cannot play any of the Anode & Cathode games because I lose the cursor after a minute into the game. Is this a common problem? I'd really like to play this game.

Hi,911?ImOnFire

:
Hm. I tried to complete the roulette table using the barmans tip, #10, but no matter how many times I've tried clicking it, it won't let me place my token on any of the numbers =/ I've clicked every one of them, using both my 100 token and a pile of money *shrug* ... anybody else had this trouble? Or am I just missing something?

Comment 293, Sunday, August 7th 2005 03:17:00 AM

Tia

:
On fire, youhave to talk to the barman, he will help you...if you help him that is. When he gives you something, you give him something. Consider this---when you go to a restaurant and you have finished your meal, on top of the cost of your meal, you may also give the waiter something else to say thank-you for their service.

Catch my drift...

okay, here are some Minimal Hints for those who don't want to use a walkthrough. (and are baffled because -- curses! -- Tab doesn't work any more.)

(if you do want a walkthrough, there's one up above -- just scroll up, looking for a LOT of text.)

if you don't want any hints at all, my advice is to be very patient, but if something isn't working, it's probably not GOING to work -- find some other way to do what you're trying to do. and pay attention to the messages you get when you click on things -- lots of them are clues.

spoilers follow...

* in the casino, look around for things. (and remember "the Office," and where you found things there.)
* things that seem like they SHOULD work don't necessarily work. e.g., the banker says he loves fruit, but he doesn't mean bananas; the slot machine doesn't work with 1-franc or 50-franc notes.
* there's something to get in every location.
* the poker table question isn't actually about cards or gambling -- it's much easier.
* when you try to play roulette, you get a message (in French, naturellement) about not being able to play until you know what to bet on -- i.e., you need a tip.
* the slot machine will work with coins, but you'll know when you've used the correct coin because you win right away. take your winnings.
* the bartender WILL give you a drink, but it costs a lot, and it takes several tries to get him to serve you, and he's out of most of the drinks.
* when you finally get the drink, don't just take it with you -- drink it.
* and then don't just leave: be polite.
* about this time, remember that objects you've used show in your inventory but with a white circle over them.
* talk to everyone. you'll end up with a map, which allows you to select various locations (including the casino).
* at the house (upper left on the map), click like mad. e.g., there are cabinets where you find things only after opening and closing the doors more than once.
* i'm afraid i have no idea what the temperature clues are about. apparently not necessary -- except that CHANGING the temperature is important in one location.
* this part is completely random: something is missing from the microwave, and you need to put something in the microwave, and you get something from doing that. (see additional spoilers at end of this post.)
* i think "hone carved" actually means "carved STONE."
* once you get into the mill, there's a keypad which you have to complete. this is a classic puzzle: rows, columns, and diagonals all have to add up to the same number. (see additional spoilers at end of this post.)
* before you can get through the final rooms in the mill, you'll need 6 bananas and three "hone carved." to get the last "hone carved," you'll need to use one object you haven't used yet. it goes somewhere very logical.

additional spoilers:

* the missing part to the microwave is something you got earlier, that fits.
* the thing to put in it is just something you find in the house. NOT food.
* to get the final "hone carved," you need to go back to the casino
* things you DON'T need to use or figure out: the coin you found on the floor, the notes, the safe, the riddle, the "shoot" version of the Office game, any of the computers.
* Tutta (above) explained that you can open the safe if you complete the "shoot" version of the Office game. if you do, you'll get a hint that helps you complete this game. but it's not necessary, if you don't need hints (or if you have a hint already).
* and you can certainly solve the riddle -- to do so, make a grid listing "name, number, drink, object, pet" on the side, and "office, house, taxi, museum, casino" across the top, then fill in the clues and use trial-and-error with the people/etc. that you can't fill in for certain, to get the solution. then you can use the answer on one of the computers, and get some lovely screen saves.

hope this helps without spoiling too much. god knows *I* needed help...
