I don't know if it was part of the game or not, but as soon as I went under the water and swam through the tunnel, the screen went black, and I couldn't go any further...

I played this just yesterday. It scared the living daylights out of me at one point. I was in the dark and didn't realise how loud my volume was.
I haven't finished it yet, but I have all the climbing equipment.
