Cog
I know Honda's Cog advert came out ages ago, but I really thought I'd linked to it at the time, but it turns out I never did, and it still rocks. So here's a link to it as a reminder for everyone who saw it first time round, and as an essential piece of coolness you shouldn't miss, for those of you who didn't. The main thing is to remember is it's all one shot, although it took 600+ takes, rather than computer trickery [thanks Sam].

It's a brilliant ad--I'm so pleased it's not computer trickery--and always reminds me of the classic 80s TV show The Great Egg Race.

I seem to remember a show with lots of dominos being felled as well which it reminds me of but I think that might have been Record Breakers.

"Isn't it nice... when things just... work. After 600 bleeding takes?"

It's actually TWO continuous takes. http://www.snopes.com/autos/business/hondacog.asp

I just thought I would add some snobbery by saying I got one of the limited edition DVD copies of this advert with a making of documentary. God, I'm so glad the Wile E. Coyote style is in adverts....

I love this ad, I love the tune too..Rappers Delight, somehow it just compliments the ad perfectly.

I also love how it is actual work in motion and not done by the hand of some computer wiz..makes it all the more satisfying to watch.

Sure, the contraption is great (at one point, they were considering using gasoline and fire), but it's all about Garrison Keillor. :P

Why do the tires have a tendancy to roll up the ramp? Seems like some kind of trickery there.

It's called momentum. With enough momentum, a circular object such as a wheel can travel up a slight incline. The wheels featured in this advert had enough momentum.

did you notice that when the car rolled down the ramp that it ran somthing over what was that?, and i also think its wierd how tires rolled up the ramp, because as the camera moved away from the scene the second tire, even thogh it had somehow stopped moving forward or backward suddenly had burst of 'momentum' and started shooting back UP the ramp? that was weird.
and also it was painfully obvious that the very first gear was either fake, or the camera needed a upgrade. by the way, what were the black things that moved up and down when the music started?... im lost can someone please tell me how this all happened?

I believe the tires had weights in them. There were a few things in the advert that are weighted, that way they get the objects to move just the right amout. Very very cool looking!

After the car ran down the ramp, it rolled over a remote control that triggered the Accord sign.

Oh, and Gangstaz, if you feel the need to act obstreperous to garner attention, I suggest you visit f**kyou.com, you'd fit right in.
